Clarence Neese Appointed to the Advisory Board of AFEI

Orbis, Inc. is proud to announce the appointment of Clarence Neese, Orbis vice president and cofounder, to the Advisory Board of the Appalachian Forestry Entrepreneurship Initiative (AFEI) at West Virginia University. The AFEI seeks to strengthen industry-education partnerships, foster innovation, and entrepreneurship, and support sustainable growth in forestry-based businesses throughout Appalachia. The program is led by Jason Hubbart, Ph.D., the Associate Dean of Research for the Division for Land-Grant Engagement at West Virginia University.

“Clarence was selected due to his expertise in natural resources, background in geospatial technology, and understanding of current market trends,” said Hubbart. “He is uniquely positioned to help guide the AFEI’s objectives. Clarence’s strategic insights will significantly enhance efforts to develop future forestry leaders and ensure the Initiative’s sustained success.”

“It was truly an honor to receive the invitation to join the Board,” said Neese. “I feel very passionate about providing tangible, effective solutions that directly support our young NALprofessionals and neighboring communities, and I think this program and the work that’ll come from it will be very impactful.”

The remaining Board will be comprised of other industry leaders, innovators, and experts with an aim to help shape the future of forestry-based business in Appalachia. Hubbart and his team are in the process of finalizing the remaining spots, with just under twenty coveted positions to be appointed.

To officially launch this initiative, the first AFEI Summit will be held on June 4, 2025, at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center. This event will bring together industry leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers to discuss opportunities for collaboration and economic development. The inaugural Advisory Board meeting will follow.
